This is a challenging hike that should be planned carefully with enough time.  Due to the conditions, there is only a period between July – October that the walk can be attempted. If the trail is closed, you should not attempt it.  The hike is also considered backcountry so expect the possibility of seeing Bears and take the 10 essentials.

The hike gradually ascends towards Norvan Falls which is where you turn off and head up the Coliseum trail.  The trail is quite steep for the majority of the hike up to the top.  The trail changes as you go higher starting with quite soft dirt becoming rockier by the top.  A good pair of boots or trail shoes with tread and grip are essential.

The views at the top are stunning and well worth the climb.
